Knowledge Base

How to upload product context, customer research, interviews, documents, and sources that ground synthetic users.

The Knowledge Base is where you upload the customer evidence and product context Tenera should learn from: interviews, support tickets, sales calls, product docs, surveys, URLs, competitor notes, and more.

Set this up before running research. The more grounded your Knowledge Base is, the more specific and realistic your synthetic users will be.

What to upload

Add anything that captures customer voice, market context, or product intent:

  • Customer interview transcripts
  • Support ticket exports
  • Sales call notes
  • Survey or NPS responses
  • Product specs, PRDs, and launch notes
  • Competitor analysis
  • App store reviews
  • Public web pages or PDFs

Accepted formats include PDF, Word, Markdown, plain text, images, and URLs. Web pages are crawled automatically.

Add sources

In the app, go to Project → Knowledge Base → Sources.

  1. Click Add source.
  2. Upload files or paste a URL.
  3. Confirm the source details.
  4. Wait for processing to finish.

Processed sources become available for search, citations, enrichment, and persona generation.

Enrich the Knowledge Base

After adding sources, click Enrich. Tenera will crawl, extract, cluster, and organize the evidence into a Knowledge Base version.

Enrichment powers:

  • Knowledge graph exploration
  • Theme and pain-point clustering
  • Audience and persona insights
  • Source-backed citations in reports
  • Persona updates from the latest evidence

Run enrichment again after adding meaningful new sources. Incremental enrichment adds to the latest version; a fresh rebuild is useful when you want to reorganize the project from the ground up.

Explore and ask questions

Use the Knowledge Base views to understand what Tenera learned:

  • Overview — high-level status, source coverage, and enrichment state.
  • Explore — graph and theme views for patterns across your sources.
  • Chat — ask questions about your uploaded evidence and review cited answers.
  • Personas — review personas generated or updated from customer evidence.

Good questions include:

  • "What do customers complain about most?"
  • "Which objections show up before purchase?"
  • "What language do users use to describe the problem?"
  • "How do our power users differ from new users?"

Personas synced from your Knowledge Base

When enrichment finishes, Tenera can update Knowledge Base personas from the latest Voice of Customer evidence. Existing personas are refreshed, new ones are created when new patterns appear, and stale ones can be archived.

Review these personas before major simulations so the audience matches your current market understanding.

Tips

  • Upload at least 3–5 meaningful sources before enrichment.
  • Prefer raw customer language over polished internal summaries when possible.
  • Re-enrich after major launches, pricing changes, or customer research batches.
  • Use URLs for public pages and PDFs when you want Tenera to gather context quickly.
  • Keep product docs in the Knowledge Base so reports can cite the current product direction.
